Word Study: LOVE

Image
BYTES~ Word Study: LOVE Love Is A Choice, Not Merely A Feeling Romans 5:5 ¹(NKJV) Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. A couple I knew was having some marital issues. The husband, after another night of arguing, asked me what he should do if he had fallen out of love with his wife. I consulted with the Holy Spirit for the best possible response to his query. I told him, “ Love is a choice, not merely a feeling. There will be many days in your marriage when you will wake up in the morning and feel that you no longer love your spouse. That is when you must make a choice, determining in your heart and mind, to love your spouse. It is up to you to start each day by making the choice to love your spouse despite your differences. That is what love is all about.” What Is Love? ‘ ²Aheb and ³Agapao are two words used to depict love, the first from the Old Testament and the second from th...

No Schisms In The Body

Image
BYTES~   No Schisms In The Body   And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honour; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the Body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. I Corinthians 12:23-25 The Body Paul is referring to in this passage of Scripture is The Body of Christ , the Church; those who call themselves Christian . The Holy Spirit, speaking through Paul, wanted to create an awareness in the members of Christ's Body that they were not their own, that they were bought with a costly price, the life and Blood of Jesus, therefore members should not despise each other, gossip about each other, or believe that they were superior to another.   In Christ, we who believe are all One Body . Now, there may be days you d...

Do Not Be Afraid; Only Believe

Image
BYTES~   Do Not Be Afraid; Only Believe. ~Jesus Mark 5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the Synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” “Do Not Be Afraid; Only Believe,” are profound words to live by straight from the Master’s lips to our hearts. 'Heard’ in the Greek is ‘parakousas’ which comes from the word ‘¹parakouo.’ Para means beside or near , and akouo means to overhear, hear amiss or imperfectly . Parakouo thus tells us that Jesus was standing quite close to the ruler of the Synagogue and overheard when the messengers informed him his daughter was dead;  why trouble the Teacher any further? Bad news always impacts us deeply. It hits like a bullet train in the solar plexus. When bad news or sad news comes, we cannot help but react to it. The ruler of the Synagogue did when they told him his daughter had just died. Fear hit the rulers heart as only news of death can. He immediately lost all hope that Jesus could t...

Rehash

Image
BYTES~   Rehash 1 Corinthians 11:25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the New Covenant in My Blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” Jesus did not want any of His friends and followers to forget about Him and what He had done. So He graciously made a way for all who love and believe in Him to live in remembrance of Him . He told us to have Communion often in remembrance of Him. Jesus was basically telling Believers to rehash what He had said and done, to speak often about it in order that they might live victorious lives here on earth in Him. To rehash , according to Oxford Languages, is to reuse (old ideas or material) without significant change or improvement; to talk over or discuss again . In certain instances to rehash the same thing over and over again is unproductive to everyone involved in the conversation. But in the case of Believers in Jesus Christ, Believers like you and me, rehashing , tal...

Pray Without Ceasing

Image
BYTES~ Pray Without Ceasing A Fresh Byte  with   Meaghan Spies You Can Pray Without Ceasing 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 Pray Without Ceasing,…for this is the will of God concerning you. When Holy Spirit  first spoke to my heart many years ago regarding Praying Without Ceasing , I thought I had discovered the first error in the Bible. Surely God the Holy Spirit must have made a mistake giving this commandment, or Paul had heard Him wrong but decided to include the verse in his writings anyway because it sounded super spiritual. Nobody could possibly  pray without ceasing   unless they did not have kids or a job, right? But God never makes mistakes. Jesus, God the Son, will never tell us to do something He has not done or could not do. He is not the God who is impossible. He is the God of the impossible. So when Jesus instructs us to pray without ceasing , He knows as Believers we can fulfill this mitzvah, or commandment, through Him who loves us, who str...

Word Study: Hope

Image
BYTES~    Word Study: Hope By Meaghan Spies 1 Timothy 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope. We Need Hope Hope is something we as humans can never do without. Hope is what keeps us going , what keeps us alive, what keeps us moving forward with purpose even when all seems hopeless. Hope is the foundation of our faith. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. A life without Hope is literally a hopeless life. God in His wisdom has given us of His hope to get us through each day and through life , and Hope does not disappoint because we know we are deeply loved . Romans 5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit  who was given to us. Old Testament Hope Tiqvah is the Hebrew word for Hope. Willing But Weak

Image
BYTES~   Willing But Weak By Meaghan Spies “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. ” ~Jesus. Matthew 26:41   You have purposed in your heart to spend more time in God's Presence and in His Word in 2022. You started off well on Day One. But it's almost the end of February and you just cannot find the time for God. You know you need God. That's what the preachers keep saying, but you find your need for Him is not as great as they said it should be. In fact, you wonder, rather cynically, if they are spending lots of time with God or if they are just like you, Willing But Weak. Well, let us answer that first. Jesus said, By their fruits you shall know them. When any Believer, preacher, pastor, disciple, teacher of the Word, leader or you, spends time with God daily, the Fruit of the Spirit will be clearly seen in that life on a consistent basis. Not perfect but clearly seen. But the Fruit of...

Word Study: Navi, The Prophet

BYTES~ Word Study: Navi, The Prophet By Meaghan Spies   What Is A Prophet? Acts 2:17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. W e live in the most amazing, anointed and powerful time in the history of the world simply because God decided to pour out of His Spirit on His sons and daughters. God the Holy Spirit is the power behind all that God has done, is doing and will do in the lives of those who would believe, and in the earth. God said that when He poured out of His Spirit on all flesh that then His people would      1 )  prophesy the oracles of God,     2 )  see life-altering visions,      3)  and dream dreams without limitation.  He has, and is still, fulfilling what He has said since the Day of Pentecost. In the Greek, to ...
