Word Study: Paradidomi~He Gave His Life For Me

Image
BYTES~   Word Study: Paradidomi~He Gave His Life For Me I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me ;  the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.  Galatians 2:20 PARADIDOMI Gave Himself for me is PARADIDOMI in the Greek. Paradidomi is an interesting compound of two words: Para and didomi . Para> denotes being near, beside or in the vicinity of. Didomi> means to give, grant, commit, show or deliver (up).  Compound para+didomi and you get a word that means to deliver to one something to keep, use, take care of, or manage; to entrust to, to commit (something) to someone. Yet it also means to deliver up one to custody, to betray, deliver to prison. It  is used to describe how Judas betrayed Jesus to the authorities.  Paradidomi~  He Gave Himself For Me.   As you can see, Paradidomi basically means to give, or entrust, something...

Word Study: The Riches of His Kindness

Image
BYTES~ Word Study: The Riches of His Kindness By Meaghan Spies But when the kindness and the love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit , whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of Eternal Life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly , that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.  Titus 3:4‭-‬8 NKJV Our God Is Rich The riches of His kindness . What profound words, rich with meaning because they are a true reflection of the nature of God . Our God is rich .  He is rich and generous in everything good. He is the personification and the source of abundant life . God epitomizes all you ha...

Rehash

Image
BYTES~   Rehash 1 Corinthians 11:25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the New Covenant in My Blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” Jesus did not want any of His friends and followers to forget about Him and what He had done. So He graciously made a way for all who love and believe in Him to live in remembrance of Him . He told us to have Communion often in remembrance of Him. Jesus was basically telling Believers to rehash what He had said and done, to speak often about it in order that they might live victorious lives here on earth in Him. To rehash , according to Oxford Languages, is to reuse (old ideas or material) without significant change or improvement; to talk over or discuss again . In certain instances to rehash the same thing over and over again is unproductive to everyone involved in the conversation. But in the case of Believers in Jesus Christ, Believers like you and me, rehashing , tal...

Pray Without Ceasing

Image
BYTES~ Pray Without Ceasing A Fresh Byte  with   Meaghan Spies You Can Pray Without Ceasing 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 Pray Without Ceasing,…for this is the will of God concerning you. When Holy Spirit  first spoke to my heart many years ago regarding Praying Without Ceasing , I thought I had discovered the first error in the Bible. Surely God the Holy Spirit must have made a mistake giving this commandment, or Paul had heard Him wrong but decided to include the verse in his writings anyway because it sounded super spiritual. Nobody could possibly  pray without ceasing   unless they did not have kids or a job, right? But God never makes mistakes. Jesus, God the Son, will never tell us to do something He has not done or could not do. He is not the God who is impossible. He is the God of the impossible. So when Jesus instructs us to pray without ceasing , He knows as Believers we can fulfill this mitzvah, or commandment, through Him who loves us, who str...

Word Study: Hope

Image
BYTES~    Word Study: Hope By Meaghan Spies 1 Timothy 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope. We Need Hope Hope is something we as humans can never do without. Hope is what keeps us going , what keeps us alive, what keeps us moving forward with purpose even when all seems hopeless. Hope is the foundation of our faith. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. A life without Hope is literally a hopeless life. God in His wisdom has given us of His hope to get us through each day and through life , and Hope does not disappoint because we know we are deeply loved . Romans 5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit  who was given to us. Old Testament Hope Tiqvah is the Hebrew word for Hope. By Meaghan Spies Luke 1:17(NKJV) 'He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” {Angelic prophecy about John the Baptist}. 1.   God Is Always Ready T he Holy Spirit has such witty, yet insightful, ways of revealing the will of God. “To make ready a people prepared for the Lord ,” is such a profound, witty, yet insightful statement full of the mysteries and the will of God which are only accessible through a closer walk with the Holy Spirit.   I Corinthians 2:9-10 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, ...

Avinu Malkienu

Image
BYTES~ Avinu Malkienu Isaiah 63:16 Doubtless You are our Father, Though Abraham was ignorant of us, And Israel does not acknowledge us. You, O Lord, are our Father; Our Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.  Matthew 6:9   In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed be Your name.* ~Jesus Avinu Malkienu is Hebrew for Our Father, our King. The Avinu Malkienu is a prayer sung during the Ten Days of Teshuva between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Each stanza of the prayer begins with the moving words, Avinu Malkienu, Our Father, our King in acknowledgment of God's love for His people above His supremacy over all.  That is who God is, or should be, in our lives, too, both King and Father . God has chosen for us to know Him, though, not first as Melech, King , but firstly as Father . Yes, God is King over all and the nations and unbelievers must and will come to know Him as King.  Revelation 17:14 T hese will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb...

Prophetic Insight

Image
BYTES~ Prophetic Insight by Meaghan Spies Ecclesiastes 10:20 Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber; for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter. E very thought you think and every word you speak is being monitored by God, by angels and by demons. What you say in the dark will eventually find its way to the light. You cannot get away from what you think and say. Your proclamations and declarations will accomplish that which you have sent it to. Speak against the government and eventually others will know your political stance or affiliation. Curse the rich from a jealous heart and many will be able to discern your envy and the root of bitterness lodged in your heart. Two types of creatures are being referenced in this verse: 1.       The bird of the air 2.     That which hath wings. Have you ever wondered how it was possible, fro...
