Do Not Be Afraid; Only Believe

Image
BYTES~   Do Not Be Afraid; Only Believe. ~Jesus Mark 5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the Synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” “Do Not Be Afraid; Only Believe,” are profound words to live by straight from the Master’s lips to our hearts. 'Heard’ in the Greek is ‘parakousas’ which comes from the word ‘¹parakouo.’ Para means beside or near , and akouo means to overhear, hear amiss or imperfectly . Parakouo thus tells us that Jesus was standing quite close to the ruler of the Synagogue and overheard when the messengers informed him his daughter was dead;  why trouble the Teacher any further? Bad news always impacts us deeply. It hits like a bullet train in the solar plexus. When bad news or sad news comes, we cannot help but react to it. The ruler of the Synagogue did when they told him his daughter had just died. Fear hit the rulers heart as only news of death can. He immediately lost all hope that Jesus could t...

Rehash

BYTES~   Rehash 1 Corinthians 11:25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the New Covenant in My Blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” Jesus did not want any of His friends and followers to forget about Him and what He had done. So He graciously made a way for all who love and believe in Him to live in remembrance of Him . He told us to have Communion often in remembrance of Him. Jesus was basically telling Believers to rehash what He had said and done, to speak often about it in order that they might live victorious lives here on earth in Him. To rehash , according to Oxford Languages, is to reuse (old ideas or material) without significant change or improvement; to talk over or discuss again . In certain instances to rehash the same thing over and over again is unproductive to everyone involved in the conversation. But in the case of Believers in Jesus Christ, Believers like you and me, rehashing , tal...

Word Study: Hope

BYTES~    Word Study: Hope By Meaghan Spies 1 Timothy 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope. We Need Hope Hope is something we as humans can never do without. Hope is what keeps us going , what keeps us alive, what keeps us moving forward with purpose even when all seems hopeless. Hope is the foundation of our faith. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. A life without Hope is literally a hopeless life. God in His wisdom has given us of His hope to get us through each day and through life , and Hope does not disappoint because we know we are deeply loved . Romans 5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit  who was given to us. Old Testament Hope Tiqvah is the Hebrew word for Hope.
