Word Study: Dianoia. How's Your Understanding?

Image
BYTES : Word Study: Dianoia. How's Your Understanding? And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. I John 5:20  Dianoia   Dianoia is Greek for understanding . Dianoia is a compound of two words, Dia + nous denoting the mind as a faculty of understanding, thinking, feeling and desiring.  Plato defined Dianoia as knowledge of the kind that falls short of the highest kind, that is noesis. He believed that nous was a higher mental faculty associated with the apprehension of unchanging, eternal truths. Whereas Dianoia was a lower mental faculty associated with fallible belief and the sensory world.  Aristotle divided Dianoia further into techné , or theoretical knowledge, and phronesis , or knowhow: practical and moral wisdom. Thus Dianoia is the human cognitive capacity for, process of, or result of discurs...

Word Study: God's Highlights

Image
BYTES~   Word Study:  God's Highlights Nun|  Your Word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. Psalms 119:105 Highlights God's Word is a lamp to our feet.   That  is, God's Word glistens on, or lights up, the road ahead of us. We do not need to stumble around in the darkness of confusion or in that tunnel of voices which so easily distract us.  God's Word is also a light unto our path . It's as if God highlights the best path for us to take especially when we come to a bend in the road.   Just as you and I use highlights to call attention to high points, to things of major significance to us, or to illuminate text that holds special interest for us, so God uses His  highlights  to emphasize things of importance as we read His Word or as we go about our daily lives.  God's Highlights , well, stand out like Highlights . You could be reading a passage in the Bible when a word or phrase suddenly stands out to you,  seem...

Word Study: Triggering

Image
BYTES~  Word Study :  Triggering Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Philippians 3:13‭-‬15 Triggering What can you just not forget from your past? Have you identified what triggers depression, anxiety, and fear in your life? What sparks of memory still trip you up so many years later?  Apostle Paul had trouble with his triggers in life as well. He had lived to persecute the church, having some killed, imprisoning others for their faith before he had his Damascus Road experience with Jesus. Some of his triggers were church  people rejecting him because they thought he was lying about his conversion. Many of his triggers were...

Yet it also means to deliver up one to custody, to betray, deliver to prison. It  is used to describe how Judas betrayed Jesus to the authorities.  Paradidomi~  He Gave Himself For Me.   As you can see, Paradidomi basically means to give, or entrust, something...
